ORTEC digiDART-LF is a high performance multi-channel analyzer for use with NaI(Tl) radiation detectors and modern scintillators such as lanthanum halides. It is engineered for use in real-world portable gamma-ray spectroscopy measurement applications. The all-digital design adopted by digiDART-LF includes three ORTEC technologies.

    digiDART-LF... strong yet lightweight
Weighing less than 860 grams, digiDART-LF is an attractive, lightweight instrument; easy to use and rugged. The outer shell is made of molded ABS - the same strong plastic widely used in cars. Like other tools, the exterior is coated with a shock-absorbing, non-slip, stain-resistant coating. The display and keyboard are recessed to protect them from damage if the instrument is dropped. The connectors are all on one side and are recessed for protection. The battery is inside - extra protected and covered by a splash-proof battery cover. Even when digiDART-LF is running, its battery can be charged in situ. The battery is truly integrated into the rugged digiDART-LF, rather than simply clipped onto the back panel; leaving it exposed and prone to breakage. Replacing the battery is easy: just open the battery cover to replace it.

    digiDART-LF display and keyboard
Although digiDART-LF is computer controlled; it also comes with a built-in display and numeric keypad, a huge improvement over contemporary portable MCAs. The high-quality display and easy-to-use keyboard mean it can perform a variety of tasks without being connected to a computer.

For field applications, a PC is difficult to carry and operate, but without a monitor, you won't be able to see the spectrum or results. digiDART-LF's built-in backlit LCD display panel and keypad provide you with the necessary data display and control. It has a clear spectrum display and enables start/stop control operations via simple keyboard input.

digiDART-LF's spectral display is modeled after ORTEC's highly successful MAESTRO MCA emulator, which is used in thousands of systems. The 240 x 160 pixel LCD display enables users to monitor the acquisition process and instrument setup status without connecting to a PC. It has real-time spectrum display, peak information display and online activity calculation functions of the area of interest. ROI is shown as a bar graph below the spectrum.

    Real-time activity calculation...no PC required!
At the push of a button, DigiDART-LF performs nuclide ID and activity calculations based on internally stored calibration information without the need for a connected PC. Everything is user controllable: libraries used for analysis, peak labels displayed, unit labels and calibration parameters. They are all easily downloadable to digiDART-LF via MAESTRO and they can be changed in the field to suit your changing needs. Activities can be calculated for lists of up to 9 nuclides. Spectral data can be saved and then re-analyzed in more detail with more sophisticated computer analysis packages such as the A66SV-BW GammaVision Gamma Spectroscopy Measurement Software for scintillation radiation detectors.

    Operation menu
All digiDART-LF screens and operations can be set up using the keypad and display. Operation is simple - press the number and Enter key to select what you want from the displayed list. The main contents include: view status, input ID, nuclide ROI content, peak information, select ROI, select status content, adjust controls, general settings and view memory content. The complete list of all features has been given in the specifications section.

Using the keyboard and display, MCA settings can be verified or changed in the field without a host computer.

    protect
Protecting your data is important, so the menus are password protected. Actions can be divided into two categories: users and administrators. The user password protects the instrument from unauthorized use. That is, you can protect the data stored in memory. ADMIN or Setup functions are protected by different administrator passwords. ADMIN functions can only be changed by administrators to ensure results are based on the correct parameters.
