The ORTEC Model 266 Photomultiplier Tube Base distributes voltage to virtually any 10-stage photomultiplier tube (PMT) that fits into its standard 14-pin tube socket. It provides a capacitively coupled linear output signal from the anode and tenth dynode and can be used in timed or linear pulse height analysis systems. This arrangement allows the use of either polarity of the output without the need for an inverting amplifier. High signal quality is maintained when these outputs are fed via 50 Ω terminated cables or directly to a linear preamplifier such as the ORTEC Model 113 Flash Preamplifier. The Type 113 output is fed to one of the ORTEC main amplifiers where it is linearly shaped by an active filter or delay for analysis. The focus control on the Model 266 allows adjustments to be made to achieve the performance of a specific PMT.
