Model 142A is optimized for detectors with capacitances up to 100 pF and features extremely low noise and fast timing. This makes it ideal for high-resolution alpha and beta particle spectroscopy applications.

Model 142B is optimized for detectors with capacitances above 100 pF but below 400 pF and features extremely low noise and fast timing.

Model 142C is optimized for detectors with capacitances above 400 pF and features extremely low noise and fast timing.

These preamplifiers have individual fast-timing outputs with pulse widths of approximately 50 ns and rise times ranging from less than 5 ns (for 0 pF detectors) to less than 20 ns (for 1000 pF detectors). This timing output provides excellent time resolution when combined with ORTEC's standard electronics; in addition, its fast differential shape often allows direct coupling to a timing discriminator.

These preamplifiers can operate within a vacuum enclosure, thereby enhancing the performance of many spectral systems. This reduces the length of the input cable. The small size of the preamplifier plays a big role when working in a hood, as available space is limited.

    How to choose142A、142Bor142C

    in142A、142Bor142CChoose from models:

    1.
Find the depletion depth of the detector. if forORTECdetector, then group2Arrive4digits are expressed in μmdepth in units.

    2.
Find the depletion depth in the graph above and read the capacitance at the top of the graph (pF/mm2)。

    3.
Multiply by the area of the detector (unit:mm2). This isORTECmiddle of detector3digits. If the capacitance is less than100 pF, then select142Atype; if the capacitance is greater than100 pFbut less than400 pF, then select142Btype; if the capacitance is greater than400 pF, then select142Ctype. For example: for100μmthe exhaustion depth,ORTEC D-025-200-100The detector will have approximately1 pF/mm2. This is useful for200 mm2In terms of area, it is200pF, so it should142Btype preamplifier.
