when america passes breastWhen the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) mandated mammography quality requirements, medical physicists, ACR, and the FDA worked with Gammex to design what is today known as the Gammex 156 breast phantom. The Gammex 156 breast phantom has helped set the standard for repeatability and reproducibility in mammography. With this resource, the technician (radiographer) on any machine can provide the same set of images to help detect breast cancer. The phantom mimics breast tissue. This is a feedback mechanism that provides a framework for continually improving early detection and reducing mortality.
