CT quality control uses anthropomorphic phantoms

traditionalCT scanner dosimetry uses standard CTDI models, such as CIRS Model 007 CT Dose Phantom. However, more complex CT protocols and continued equipment improvements require the use of anthropomorphic phantoms of different sizes and/or ages, such as the CIRS ATOM dosimetry phantom family.

CIRS CT imaging QA kit is suitable for CIRS ATOM dosimetry model and CIRS 007TE tissue equivalent CT dose model, and has been widely used in CT dosimetry. The insert included in the kit is designed to study the correlation between image quality and CT dose. The kit provides various targets for the assessment of two important CT performance parameters: low-contrast detectability and spatial resolution of soft tissue and lung regions.

The Model 700-QA is available with four inserts: Lung, Soft Tissue - Cylindrical, Soft Tissue - Spherical, and Soft Tissue - Positive 3D Line Target. The diameters of the spheres and cylinders are chosen to provide a 2:1 volume and cross-sectional area ratio for each pair of adjacent spheres and cylinders, respectively. When ordered with ATOM® inserts can be positioned in the abdomen, liver, mediastinum and lungs.
