USAThe CIRS 073 Multimodal Breast Biopsy and Ultrasound Training Phantom is designed to train users in all aspects of breast imaging and image-guided interventional procedures. The CIRS 073 Multimodal Breast Biopsy and Ultrasound Trainer accurately simulates the heterogeneous appearance of breast tissue under ultrasound, mammography and MRI, with both cystic and dense lesions embedded in the breast background. Half of the dense lesions were spherical and had 100-300 micron microcalcifications embedded within them, while the other half had a spiny shape. In addition to helping users identify different types of masses in the complex structure of the breast, calcifications are useful markers for image registration between modalities.
The CIRS 073 Multimodal Breast Biopsy and Ultrasound Training Phantom includes a flexible Z-Skin™ membrane that simulates the look and feel of skin during scans and biopsies. After puncture with the needle, the skin material closes itself, providing good protection against dryness even after repeated training sessions.
The materials within the phantom are designed to effectively reduce the impact of needle marks when performing biopsy techniques on embedded masses. This material also has significant self-healing properties and typically occurs within minutes of needle removalDisappears within a fraction of a second. Each cystic mass can be aspirated once, and each dense mass can be biopsied multiple times.
