CIRS 008V dynamic phantom The Viewray® dynamic phantom was used to demonstrate the Viewray system's unique ability to track and provide gating processing based on real-time MRI imaging. The phantom's dosimetric capabilities enhance the validation of the Viewray system from the planning phase to the final phase of gated treatment delivery. This phantom is designed to meet Viewray requirements specification document RQ-0034 Rev C.

CIRS 008V dynamic phantomRepresents the average human chest. It consists of a plastic housing with a cylindrical through hole to accommodate a moving rod with a simulated target. The embedded MRI/CT target is made of MRI target gel, which provides contrast relative to the surrounding MRI background gel to allow tracking of tumor motion. The target may receive an ion chamber for treatment dose verification. The moving rod is connected to a motion actuator box that induces three-dimensional target motion through linear translation and rotation of the rod. In addition to the dosimetry target, the rod contains an offset target and a cylindrical area made of MRI target gel to improve target tracking accuracy.

CIRS 008V dynamic phantomFour spherical static targets and a fifth cuboid target were included to simulate organs at risk. Each of the three targets receives an ion chamber for dosimetric measurements. The body target made of MRI target gel is surrounded by the same MRI background gel used in the moving rod. These targets allow dosimetry to be performed using the same ion chamber as that used for the moving rod. Additionally, they can be used to check automatic target delineation.

CIRS 008V dynamic phantomEquipped with a target motion position output that provides two square waves, "beam on" - "beam off" can be analyzed on an oscilloscope to determine beam delay, which is very important in gating processing.
